While in Pismo, I heard about Nepenthe... beautiful restaurant with a view overlooking the ocean, delicious food, AND an awesome wine selection... no brainer.... added to the agenda! I failed on timing though and arrived when dark.... but it was still amazing.
Nepenthe is nestled on top of a hill, so when you arrive, you park below, and take stairs. Since it was dark, it was a little trickier to obtain clear pictures, but it's beautiful.. and busy! It seemed to be more of an adult place, but there were a few children.
I opted for smoked salmon with herbed cream cheese and rye crisps, followed by chicken with an onion and mushroom gravy, and of course a glass of red :)
Verdict: I'm already planning what to order on my nexyt visit! Service was great, food was beyond amazingly delicious., wine was tasty, atmosphere was very inviting, bathrooms were clean, and staff was wonderful.. overall ... I highly recommend going. If you're road tripping be sure to stop at Pfieffer Beach (read my review here) along the way.
